'Seussical' cast profile: Kareena Wallace


Kareena Wallace tries to stay alive as one of the Whos in 'Seussical'.


GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters.
Kareena: I will be playing a Who. We spend most of the show trying to stay alive unfortunately, but I have a great time doing it. LoL

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows.
Kareena: I started at GCP as Maria in '9 to 5' which was great fun. I've also been in 'The Color Purple' and 'All Shook Up' at The Actor's Warehouse.

GCP Girl: Why did you audition for "Seussical"?
Kareena: I really like Dr. Seuss but have never seen this show so I was really curious to see this take on so many books I read as a child.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Kareena: Monkey Around! I'm not in that number but it is a really fun intro into the trouble they are about start up!

GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Kareena: The reactions from both kids and adults have been my favorite part. There really is something for all ages to see at this show.

GCP Girl: Why should people see this show?
Kareena: Because it's an extremely fun and awesome show!

GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why? 
Kareena: My favorite Character is the Cat In The Hat. Even though he is really mischievous he is really trying to have a good time and I can appreciate his care free attitude. I think we all could use a little of that sometimes.

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know.
Kareena:  I have really enjoyed myself during this show. The cast and crew are sooo much fun. I'm really going to miss it once it's over. :-/

'Seussical' Cast profile: Rachel Frangie

Rachel Frangie is a sassy jungle citizen in 'Seussical'!


GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters.
Rachel: My main character is a 'sassy' Jungle citizen. She goes with the flow with all the different storylines. One second she's supporting Mayzie and then has empathy for Gertrude with her one feathered tail. If it makes her look good, she's all about it. I am also a fish, circus performer, and a hunch.

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows. 
Rachel: I was in GCP's last winter musical, White Christmas, in the ensemble. And I helped with backstage crew in Tom Sawyer.

GCP Girl: Why did you audition for "Seussical"?
Rachel: I auditioned for Seussical because I simply listened to the soundtrack and I fell in love with the show.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Rachel: It would have to be Chasing the Whos. The audience gets to witness how the Jungle responds and then how the Whos to what is happening with the clover. It is also a very high energy number which I love!

GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Rachel: I'm looking forward to how the audience takes all the story lines' messages and what new perspectives they take from them.

GCP Girl: Why should people see this show?
Rachel: It's a family show and will make your holiday season!

GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why? 
Rachel: Probably all the Whos in all the different books and movies. They still stay so happy even in a depressing time!

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know.
Rachel: I've taken selfies with multiple Tony and Olivier winners! Hooray for stage doors after shows!

'Seussical' cast profile: Niyin Smith

Niyin Smith makes her sassy debut on the GCP stage as BirdGirl #1!


GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters.
Niyin: I would describe us (birdgirls) as the doo-wop girls of Nool. We are kinda sneaky. We narrate a lot of the story.

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows.
Niyin: Well, when I was younger I did mainly straight plays and I took dance lessons. Then, I was introduced to musicals and saw the you could dance, sing, and act! In previous shows I played parts of the ensemble. Recently, I've played young Celie in The color Purple the Musical.

GCP Girl: Why did you audition for "Seussical"? 
Niyin: I didn't. Ms. Rhonda asked if I wanted to be in the show which I had no idea about! I am glad she offered me a chance to be in Seussical, it really has been a great experience!

GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Niyin: Ahhh. That is a tough decision. I would have to say the people versus horton. It allows me to get all of my sass out that I haven't already displayed.

GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Niyin: Becoming closer to the cast and just having fun with something I love doing! I really hope the audience will enjoy it!

GCP Girl:
Why should people see this show?
Niyin: Normally, when people the Dr. Seuss they probably think of it as a childish show! That's not true! Seussical is a Musical that reaches out to everyone and it displays a wonderful message.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why? 
Niyin: Cat in The Hat of course! He's definitely a jokester!

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know. 
Niyin: This is my first GCP show. So excited to be apart of the family!

'Seussical' cast profile: Amanda Edwards

Amanda Edwards returns to the GCP stage as the sassy Mayzie La Bird!

GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters.
Amanda: Mayzie’s a fun-loving, fancy free, delightfully shallow bird who shirks responsibility in favor for fun in the sun only to have the error of her ways brought into sharp focus by a loyal pachyderm.

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows
Amanda: This is my third show at GCP. I did Intimate Apparel last year and 9 to 5 this past season. Each experience has been tremendously rewarding and an absolute blast! Shout out to the host GCP girl *Hey KATIE!!*

GCP Girl: Thanks, Amanda! ;) Why did you audition for "Seussical"?
Amanda: Peer pressure ^_^ A lot of my friends were auditioning.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Amanda: The Opening "Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!" It's a musical opening number with all the bells and whistles...plus the audience gets personal introductions of the characters.

GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Amanda: Watching the cast grow as discoveries are made and the story sinks in deeper for each of us.

GCP Girl: Why should people see this show?
Amanda: It's a whimsical, fun yet endearing tale with great music and an AMAZING cast. There is something in it for everyone.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why? 
Amanda: The Cat in the Hat. It was one of the first books I ever learned to read and The Cat was a lot of fun.

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know.
Amanda: The cast of this show is ALL THAT and a bag of chips with a soda on the side ;-)

'Seussical' cast profile: Dan Christophy

The infamous Dan Christophy is The Cat in the Hat!

GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters
Dan: I play the fun loving, mischief making cat. I encourage JoJo to think and explore those thinks!

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows.
Dan: I have previously been in a show called "life". It was this show where I got up everyday and had to face a bunch of challenges and defeat many a foe. I have continued working on that show for about 37 years and just recently earned my equity card.

GCP Girl: Why did you audition for "Seussical"?
Dan: I thought the show would be fun to participate in and a good chance to show off my hat wearing skills.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Dan: I really like the end when we pose the question "what do you think" to the audience. It really gets them and even earns some audible sighing.

GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Dan: The opportunity to work with a great cast and create a magical time for both the audience and performers.

GCP Girl: Why should people see this show?
Dan: It is a fun show that everyone can enjoy. Adults and kids alike.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why? 
Dan: Marvin K Mooney. It was the tale my dad read to me and I read to my son over and over. By far my favorite.

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know.
Dan: I think that the mayor of Who falsified his birth certificate and was actually a citizen of Whatville and not Whoville. And since this is the case, we accidentally elected a non-citizen who that should immediately remove himself from office. We should then have a new election which will obviously end in an overwhelming win for Cindy Lou Who.

'Seussical' cast profile: Victoria Suskin

Victoria Suskin dances up a storm in the ensemble of 'Seussical'.

GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters. 
Victoria: I am mainly dancing throughout the show. I go from being a giraffe to a fish, then to a circus acrobat.

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows.
Victoria:  This is my second show. I was also a dancer in "9 to 5" last spring.

GCP Girl: Why did you audition for "Seussical"?
Victoria: I love performing and being onstage and the actors at GCP are some of most friendly and charming groups I've ever worked with.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Victoria: My favorite number in the show is "here on who". I am not in this number but it's so much fun to watch. Everyone is dressed in bright colors, and it's such a cute dance.

GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Victoria: I am looking forward to watching how the show comes together on show night. We have all worked very hard and put a lot of effort into this performance.

Girl: Why should people see this show?
Victoria: This show is for all age levels. It's a fun, upbeat, and heartwarming. There's amazing musical and dance numbers and I'm positive that everyone will enjoy it as much as we have all enjoyed putting it together.

GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why?
Victoria:  My favorite book from Dr. Seuss is "oh the places you'll go".

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know.
Victoria: I would like everyone to know that I am so lucky to have such an amazing cast to work with. Everyone had been so caring and helpful throughout the whole process of rehearsals and shows. I'm grateful to have such a loving Seussical family.

'Seussical' cast profile: Isiah Blount


Isiah Blount is the eldest of the rambunctious Wickersham Brothers in 'Seussical'.

GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters.
Isiah: My Character is the oldest Wickersham Brother. I'm kinda like the mother of the bunch! I display lots of attitude, and I despise Horton and this Clover!

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows.
Isiah: My very fist show was "Once on This Island" where I played Daniel. Since then I've been in "Dreamgirls" as CC, the ensemble of "9 to 5", Harpo in "The Color Purple" and I'll be taking on the role of Mereb in "Aida" very soon! :-)

GCP Girl: Why did you audition for "Seussical"?
Isiah: I auditioned for Seussical because I performed "Alone in the Universe" at the GCP Golden Apples Awards this year, and I fell in love with the show!

GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Isiah: It definitely has to be "Monkey Around". Because it's when the crowd really gets to know the Wicks!!

GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Isiah: EVERYTHING!! I love the cast and I love being on stage with them, so I'm looking forward to everything!

GCP Girl: Why should people see this show?
Isiah: People should see the show because #1, it's Dr.Seuss! #2, It's the live version of the great tale "Horton Hears a Who" and, it has amazing colors, singing, and dancing. You are sure to have a GREAT time!

GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why?
Isiah: My Favorite story would be "Green Eggs and Ham" Haha, I say that because it was the first one that I ever read, and I read it so much that I could recite it at the drop of a dime!

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know.
Isiah: SEUSSICAL IS A MUST SEE!!!!!!!

'Seussical' cast profile: Esteban Alvares, III


GCP favorite Esteban Alvarez, III is the lovable, good hearted Horton, the elephant. 

GCP Girl: Tell me a bit about your character or characters.
Esteban: Horton is the unlikely "hero" of the show. He is generous, self sacrificing, and always sees the good in everyone. He tries to save the Who's and take care of an abandoned egg ... he stays busy during the show.

GCP Girl: Tell me about some of your previous shows. 
Esteban: This is my 15th show with GCP, some favorites include Lend me a Tenor, Hairspray, The Producers, etc.

GCP Girl: Why did you audition for "Seussical"?
Esteban: Because I really enjoy the show and Horton has been a role I've wanted to do for years.
GCP Girl: What is your favorite musical number or scene in the show?
Esteban: I enjoy getting to sing Solla Sollew with the cast, but I love getting to hear Kathy, our Sour Kangaroo, sing her heart out ... although don't tell her I said so ...
GCP Girl: What are you looking forward to the most about performing in "Seussical"?
Esteban: Getting to perform with such a talented cast ... plus this is the first time I've been in a show with my brother, Rey.
GCP Girl: Why should people see this show?
Esteban: Because there is a great message, great songs, and great singers. I mean ... have you seen this cast list?
GCP Girl: What is your favorite Dr. Seuss character or story from your childhood and why? 
Esteban: I've always loved how genuine Horton was in Horton Hears a Who. So, I've loved this character for a long time.

GCP Girl: Tell me something you'd like everyone to know.
Esteban: I still haven't seen The Godfather.
